There are great new items coming Craft Foundry soon.  By September 3,  we will have Fair Trade Teas by Rishi, so stop by and sample them.

By September's First Friday we will have Soy Candles available as well,   I can hardly wait!  The scents are: Lemon Verbena, Lavender, Orange Spice and Sandalwood.  They are made locally, eco-friendly, hand poured, made with soy wax and essential oils.
The reception is from 6pm to 9pm, at 701 Belgrade Street.
Come sip some wine, and try your hand at making paste papers.

2nd Street Festival

2nd Street Festival is coming up soon!  It will be on August 1, 2010, from 12 noon to 9pm. 
Minna will have her latest works from the Craft Foundry on display.
The 2nd Street Festival will take place on Sunday August 1st on the main drag of 2nd Street in Northern Liberties, between Girard Avenue and Spring Garden Street, and Liberties Walk. The festival will be free to attend and will feature 3 stages of live music, local vendors, and children’s activities. Businesses located on 2nd street will have attractions such as children’s activities near Rita’s Water Ice, skate activities, carnival games in the North Bowl Parking lot and the Standard Tap beer garden, and more to be announced soon!

2nd Annual Shad Fest



Join us for the 2nd Annual Shad Fest!  It is April 24, 2010, from 11am to 6pm, at Penn Treaty Park.

PURPOSE: To celebrate the historical and environmental significance of Fishtown, one of Philadelphia’s oldest riverfront neighborhoods, and energize the next generation to become involved in the future of the riverfront. Last year over 3000 people came to the ShadFest and enjoyed numerous activities including:


· The Shad Run - a 5K race benefiting the Park organized by the Fishtown Beer Runners
· Live Local Music
· Educational Kiosks - sponsored by area environmental groups
· Maritime displays and Kayaking open to the public
· Local Arts & Crafts vendors
· Food Booths – featuring shad fish, festival-themed foods and local specialties
· Trolley Tours with Historian Ken Milano
· Valet Bike Parking by Neighborhood Bike Works




News for December 2009

Minna has joined forces with Independence Arts Collective in Fishtown Airways to have a co-op with both wall art as well as crafts.
The co-op started  in September and has morphed into a very interesting collection of fine artists and crafters.  We will have a special Black Friday sale November 27, with several artists' items on sale.  Minna's work will be 10% off on Friday.
The Co-op is located at 200 East Girard Avenue, at the corner of Shackmaxon Street.

Other happenings around town:

Minna will be showing work at Victor Perez's shop on 306 East Girard Avenue on November 28-29.  The theme of the show is "Upcycled", and indeed the items shown will be in that category.  The materials used are items found already existing  in the studio and minimizing the environmental impact of buying new supplies.  Along with Minna, Victor Perez and Jason Podlaski will showcase their upcycled skateboards, and Terry reilly will show paintings ans painted glass bowls.
11/28 11am to 10pm, 11/29 12pm to 5pm.

Minna will once more be selling hand crafted holiday items at "A Very Kensington Christmas" show at Greensgrow Farms.
She will be there with about 15 other artists on December 20, from 1pm to 6pm.  A wide variety of quality crafts will be available as well as Christmas wreaths, trees and libations.  The farm is a wonderful, relaxing place on 2501 East Cumberland Street.

First Friday in Haddonfield

Minna will be in Haddonfield New Jersey on Friday August 7th, 2009, as part of celebrating First Friday.
The event will be from 5pm to 8pm.  Look for more details coming up soon!

Kimmel Center Summer Solstice

Minna will be selling her latest work at the Kimmel Center's Summer Solstice Celebration on June 20, from 3pm till sundown.  The location is outside the Kimmel, at 1400 block of Spruce Street.  the festivities will continue in thr Kimmel till the morning!  Come join us!

There will be local food and music, beer and-- of course a Spring design competition and parade celebrating human powered transit and art in Kensington! At the Trenton Ave Arts Fest! We are a super fun day each May and we want people all over to make teams and create incredible themed sculptures to ride through an urban obstacle course ending at the Trenton Ave Arts Festival through a mudpit finish line. Upcoming Fishtown Shad Fest

Minna is on the planning committee for an upcoming Festival titled Fishtown Shad Festival in the spring 2009.  We are planning the festival to be held at Penn Treaty Park, on Saturday, April 25, 2009, from 11am to 5pm.

The festival will commence with a 5K Shad Run and will continue with a full day of programming including a river regatta, live music from local bands, food prepared by area chefs, fine art and craft sales, and educational kiosks devoted to river history and ecology. If you would be interested in being one of our arts and crafts vendors, please contact Minna for an application.

Minna has just finished a successful and colorful season of shows.  The shows included places like the Wallingford Art Center, Greensgrow Farms, Urban Outfitters and as well a  First Friday show in Fishtown.
Now is the time to catch a breath, do some teaching in the studio, plan for the New Year.

Minna will be hosting work shops in the studio.  Beat the winter blahs with creative activities!

A Weekend of Bookbinding and Paste paper making -January 10-11, 2009

Only $180 for a weekend or $85 for a day (Option to choose just one day).  Supply fee $10 

On Saturday learn how to paint your own colorful papers using an Old World technique of paste paper painting.  This is a fun, relaxing and “addictive” creative endeavor.  On Sunday, use the papers you made on Saturday to make your own books.  Learn the basics of bookbinding and the tools involved.  Make your own accordion book and japanese binding.

Decorative Papers - January 18, 2009

 $85 for the day and a $10 supply fee

Learn about the vast world of papers and stamps, decorative methods and embossing techniques.  At day’s end you will have a plethora of stampings to make unique cards, tags, or wrapping paper with.

PMC Weekend- February 7-8, 2009

Only $180 for the weekend, materials fee $40 ( a packet of PMC is costly)

 

Learn about the wonderful world of Precious Metal Clay (PMC), and it’s unique characteristics.  You will be able to knead and shape your own jewelry in the form of clay and then fire it to be 99% silver.  By the end of the weekend you will have made a pendant or two, and a pair of earrings.
